In the village of Ballyartella, Co. Tipperary, John Hanly & Co. has been weaving luxury wool products since 1893. What began when Denis and John Hanly converted a disused flour mill on the banks of the Nenagh River into a wool spinning mill, has grown into Ireland’s largest independent weaver of scarves, throws and tweeds. Every stage – from dyeing the yarn to weaving in the historic building – still takes place on one site, ensuring that the products are fully traceable and sustainable.
Scarves: unique colours in lambswool & cashmere
Brushed to an exceptionally soft finish, John Hanly scarves come in a range of check, block and herringbone patterns. Lightweight lambswool provides everyday comfort, while a cashmere blend adds extra luxury. The tight twill weave ensures the scarves retain their shape and colour—ideal for a colourful accent on aHarris tweed blazeror about aBarbour jacket.
Plaids: extra warmth for your home
The plaids woven from Shetland or lambswool combine traditional Irish patterns with modern colours. They are generously sized, wonderfully warm and perfect as an extra decoration for your sofa or bed.
Traditional class with John Hanly
Every John Hanly creation carries the “Made in Ireland” label and exudes timeless class. The items are breathable, temperature-regulating and hard-wearing, ensuring that both scarves and plaids remain beautiful season after season.
